Utah-based designers House of Jade Interiors transformed this kitchen by combining farmhouse and modern elements for an inspired transitional style. At the request of their clients, a rustic, fresh and modern feel was achieved with light cabinets, natural textures, mixed metal fixtures and high-end stainless appliances.
The massive center island is divided with PentalQuartz in Carrara on one end and thick butcher block on the other. Combining multiple surfaces in a kitchen creates visual interest on a large expanse of countertop and also helps to separate culinary workspaces. The island packs in a lot of function with space for the sink, a dishwasher, a drink refrigerator, an ice maker and bench seating for four. Cabinets painted in a soft blue grey contrast beautifully with the crisp white perimeter cabinets.
A feature wall with a modern dark range hood and sleek open shelving takes center stage against the texture of a whitewashed brick wall. High mounted sconce fixtures and under shelf lighting illuminate the kitchen’s tasteful décor and dinnerware. A full wall of built-in cabinets provides ample storage space and holds a secret door that leads through to a hidden pantry.
