When tasked with renovating a quintessential Seattle craftsman bungalow, White Space Design Group wanted to preserve the home’s original character yet bring in fresh and modern finishes for the young owners. On the island and perimeter countertops, PentalQuartz Statuario brings an elegant white marble look to the space without having to compromise on durability and strength. With a bright white base and warm tones from sable-colored veining, Statuario instantly brightens the room and pairs beautifully with white and grey shaker cabinets. Windows in the row of top upper cabinets extend the eye up, adding visual height to the ceilings.
Timeless fixtures in a polished brass finish bring warmth and glamour to the otherwise neutral palette. “Since it’s an open concept, we wanted to utilize light fixtures as one way to help delineate areas from one another, so we placed some simple but substantial pendants over the island,” says Brooke M. Prince, Principal at White Space Design Group. The walls of the kitchen are heavy in texture with a white herringbone mosaic tile from backsplash to ceiling, further defining the space.
The home’s original wood floors were preserved and refinished in a warm, natural brown that is echoed in the furniture and décor.
