Illuminated and elevated are the two words that best describe this transitional San Diego kitchen transformation from Savvy Interiors designer, Susan Wintersteen. Keeping the original layout featuring a large center island and an in-kitchen dining area, Wintersteen gave this space an elegant makeover drenched in light and a palette of classic white and cool grey. Using fresh white cabinets, high-end appliances and polished metallic finishes, an outdated kitchen was converted into a dream kitchen for this California home.
PentalQuartz in Altea with a square mitered edge gives the countertops a clean and modern look. The warm grey and subtle stone flecking of Altea lets the backsplash become the focal point of the kitchen’s perimeter. A basketweave mosaic feature behind the stove accompanies marble-look subway tile similar to the Pental Surfaces Brick Atelier tile collection in Carrara. Even with an identical footprint, the kitchen feels larger with the addition of a shimmering chandelier illuminating the island, under-cabinet lighting and handsome crown molding that visually extends the height of the ceilings.
