Tonal Textures

Farmhouse style has come a long way from the barn, evolving into a sophisticated, warm and functional design palette that is perfect for a contemporary kitchen. Susan Wintersteen from Savvy Interiors, an interior design firm in San Diego, used an artful mix of distressed wood textures, polished metallic finishes and crisp white tones to infuse this Carlsbad kitchen remodel with the coveted modern farmhouse aesthetic.

The functional elegance of Pental Quartz in Arabescato gives the countertops a bold marble look with durability to withstand the everyday rigors of an active kitchen. The addition of a mitered edge helps to achieve the robust appearance of thick marble slabs. To maximize storage and keep an open and airy feel, rustic wood lower cabinets were paired with milky white upper cabinets reaching to the ceiling. An oversized apron sink and exposed wood shiplap below the island add just the right amount of farmhouse chic to the design. A soft, textured pure white porcelain subway tile backsplash provides the finishing touch to a classic kitchen that will retain its charm for years to come.

To achieve this modern farmhouse look consider white porcelain subway tile from our Manhattan line and one of our many marble-look PentalQuartz countertop colors.
